My wife makes the best zucchini bread ever (nobody tell my grandmother that though) The new puppy is getting pretty rambunctious around here this week, I think she’s finally getting comfortable and NOW we’re going to be in trouble. Still, she’s cute and that makes up for a lot of stuff
Need to take the kids into school here in a bit, they don’t start until like 9:45 on Wednesdays. Then I have a brochure to finish dropping some text into, a cover design revision for a book, and of course….comics to color. Although I MAY get around to starting in on the final paints for some cards I’m doing for Fantasy Flight Games, A Game of Thrones, CCG game. It’s based on the George R.R. Martin novels, which I admiteddly haven’t ever read. Being a huge fan of the fantasy genre, and having read a LOT of stuff that sort of surprises me. So I may have to see if I can’t track down the books and rectify that at some point. Seems like a pretty interesting world and storyline from all the background information I’ve read researching for my artwork. well…more coffee and then back to the real world (or at least back to MY world, not really sure how REAL most people would call it) Here are the final pencils that my first card is going to be based on, the painting part is where the REAL fun is though

Hopefully things are getting back to normal soon around here, updates can be a real bitch when you’re strapped for time. I’ve been MORE than strapped for time lately, new house=endless amounts of work until you have it ready to go. We’re STILL moving in box by box almost 2 months later, not to mention finishing up things like putting together the kids’ swingset, putting up a fence, etc…..it’s been nice to have family close by to help out, most notably a younger brother and a grandfather.
So today I’m busy coloring a variant cover for Pistolfist: Revolutionary Warrior #1, drawn by the SUPER talented Mario Gully, whose ANT comic over at Image is simply AMAZING. You should be reading this comic if you’re not already. The guy is a FREAKING TALENT. I’ll throw this cover online when I get it done, it’s just THAT damned good. Pistolfist will be out in September, issue 1 anyways. I’m neck deep in coloring issue 2 right now as well. If you haven’t pre-ordered PF1 yet, then GO DO IT!!! You’ve got until July 15th to pre-order. Why do you have to pre-order? Because in todays marketplace, retailers simply WILL NOT order books from anyone but Marvel and DC and Image unless you ASK them too (even then they still don’t carry ALL Marvel or DC books, there’s SOOOO much content you have to let them KNOW you want certain books) This book is hot. It’s getting NOTHING but great reviews from all over the place, Silver Bullet Comics, Pop Syndicate, and countless others. J.S. Earls is doing a great job marketing the book. It’s made Diamond distributors top 15 in News and Notes!
So here’s your order code! JUL06 2828
get to it already

Image Comics
head over to the Image Comics website for 5 page previews from Season of the Witch #3 and the upcoming #4 (SOTW 4 is now scheduled to be in stores May 3rd…..printing delays, ugh
) So get a 5 page preview of each issue and get ready for a pretty cool announcement in the next few days regarding the entire Season of the Witch mini-series. I know I’m excited by it anyways

You heard it here first, at least I think. The new colorist for Jim Valentino’s SHADOWHAWK comic book at Image Comics is none other than………ME! That’s right. I’ve agreed to terms to become the new colorist for the Shadowhawk comic. I’ll be finishing up pages on issue 12, doing a 7 page story for issue 13, and taking over all the coloring chores starting with issue 14. Stay tuned as I’ll post a link to a preview of some work as soon as Image/Shadowline releases any (you’ll probably have to go over to the Image comic messageboard to see the preview) If you’re not familiar with Shadowhawk, you better run out and pick up some issues and catch up to speed, because you’re not going to want to miss this book! I’ll also be posting blatant plugs for order numbers, links to online ordering etc…..for those of you who don’t have comic shops close by, or don’t feel like going out anywhere.

Starting in May, I’m going to be working on an upcoming superhero book from Alias Enterprises, called GOLDEN, written and created by Tom McLaughlin. As if that wasn’t enough, it looks like the current book I’ve been working on, Pistolfist: Revolutionary Warrior is also going to be picked up by a publisher (whose name I can’t divulge yet) It’s turning out to be a busy summer already and we’re still a good two months away from that season. There probably won’t be anything in the stores until the fall, but still, it’s going to be cool to MAYBE eventually walk into a comic shop every month and pick up a book I’ve been working on. Also there’s been a strong positive response to that digital painting of the Black Rider, so I’m thinking of offering that as an unlimited print for people to purchase very soon. Big thanks to those that signed up for Dreamhost webhosting last month through that nifty little 22$ off button on the left side of the blog (hint, hint)

Just finished this painting this afternoon. Tutorial pics are all saved, and some time in the near future I’ll be writing a step by step for this, from pencil sketch, to finished product. There’s also a desktop wallpaper for download in the download section of the blog (click up top) I’m thinking of having my print gallery up and running before the end of the year and then this will be available as a print to buy too (although if you REALLY like it, drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do)
fun stuff!
