So, there’s a great new superhero comic debuting this month from author C.E. Murphy and published by Dabel Bros./Del Rey (coincidentally the same Del Rey where C.E. has multi novel deal) The are is amazing, penciled by Ardian Syaf with colors by yours truly. You can order directly online from HeavyInk.com for a discount on the book, subscribe to it as well and it will be shipped each month with your order.
So head over to HeavyInk.com and order your copy today.
That is all for today, I’ve got a busy day here getting 4 more pages of the Grimm Fairy Tales 2008 annual colored for Zenescope. I will leave you with the cover art to Take A Chance #3 which you can preorder right now as well though. I think Ardian and I did this cover in under 3 hours all things considered. Not too shabby!

Finished up this sketch card of Batman while watching election returns the other night. About a half hour, done mostly in watercolor, with some ink, black prisma marker and a bit of colored pencil. You can follow the link below to the ebay store and bid on it if you’re interested. Hoping to get a few more sketch cards done this week yet, but I’ve got a cover to finish for Zenescope and a 10 page short due before next Friday, in addition to some color studies and some submission pages. Going to be another busy weekend!

not much in a writing mood this morning, however here’s a little peek at the Hotshot and Mighty Girl graphic novel coming out in March from Platinum Studios. Written by Fred Van Lente (Marvel Adventures, Wolverine: First Class, The Incredible Hercules), with pencils by Billy Penn and colors and stuff by yours truly. enjoy!

The internet’s #1 Superhero webcomic continues his adventures in his own ongoing print series as well with issue #3 available to pre-order right now. This swanky collage cover features over 75 images taken directly from the original HBN diaries that ran daily for over 21 weeks prior to the launch of the first HBN mini-series in 2007. The comic continues to gain steam, garnering glowing reviews from all over as we build a modern day ICONIC superhero for ALL AGES. So get your local comic shop to order the book for you, or preorder the book online NOW by clicking on the cover below. But don’t take our word for it,
“”The current comic book story manages to prove that superhero tales do not have to be filled with angst-ridden, morally conflicted “heroes” to be good.” - Tanya Crawford, Broken Frontier
“I suggest that fanboys cut the fat they’ve been choking down out of their comic budgets (*cough* Spider-Man *cough-cough* Superman) and add in some nutrition in the form of Hero by Night.” -The Pullbox
“Coffman’s artwork is fantastic. I love his style because it creates an “animated series” kind of feel to this series that I think is vastly appropriate. I really do dig his style and there’s not much negative I can say about it because it just flat-out works for this story. Coffman’s work is only enhanced by the vibrant and brilliant colors that Jason Embury brings to the page as well and the artwork in this book becomes the complete package.” -Kevin Powers, Comics Bulletin

I might just have to agree with him on this point, although I’m biased of course.

thankfully. a little under 5 weeks, 55 pages of colors, 11 pages of digital inks to do. Will be done with the Hotshot and Mighty Girl graphic novel at the end of that time which is turning out really nice I think. Been taking some great photos lately of sunsets, and cloud formations in the yard and the field across the street here. Actually most of the skies in the second issue of Hero By Night 2 are my own snapshots from around the yard here, if they’re not custom brushes I’ve made from pictures I took over the summer. Kind of neat putting other things like photographs you’ve taken into your own work. Been using lots of pictures as textures and playing around with displacement maps and stuff to add texture to things like walls and buildings and whatnot as well. K, off to get some incense, put on the headphones and get cracking here tonight.
